Store of Value - "Digital Gold"
Bitcoin shares many core properties with gold, such as scarcity, durability, portability, recognizability, etc. These are the core properties of a good monetary store of value, recognized for thousands of years. Bitcoin uniquely enables these properties in digital form, and adds new features such as near-instant portability across the world, programmability, ability to encrypt and "back-up", etc. Thus, demand for gold, and therefore gold's market-capitalization are good "comps" for bitcoin.
